Living in the Netherlands and looking for a way to watch Romanian TV at home? You do not necessarily need a satellite dish. With a reliable internet connection and a compatible Android TV or Google TV device, you can try Vox Max before choosing a subscription.

What you need to watch Romanian TV in the Netherlands

Prepare a television, a stable home internet connection and one of these devices:

  • a TV running Android TV or Google TV;
  • a compatible Android TV box, such as Xiaomi Mi Box or Nvidia Shield, connected by HDMI;
  • a compatible Google TV streaming device connected by HDMI.

If you own a Samsung or LG smart TV, check compatibility first. Native Vox Max apps for these platforms are in development, so an external Android TV/Google TV device is currently the practical route. Read the Samsung and LG compatibility guide.

Set up Vox Max step by step

  1. Visit vox-max.com and create an account.
  2. Prepare your Android TV/Google TV television or connect your streaming box using HDMI.
  3. Install Vox Max from Google Play if available on your device. Alternatively, use Downloader with the installation code provided at registration.
  4. Sign in using the credentials sent by email or phone.
  5. Try a few channels and, where offered, the catch-up programme archive.

For detailed instructions, follow the Android TV installation guide. Only use installation information from official Vox Max messages.

Test your setup before paying

Vox Max offers a free 24-hour trial. Test it on the same device and home connection you intend to use every day.

Check channel switching, picture stability during peak evening hours and the availability of programmes that matter to you. Where possible, compare Wi-Fi with a wired Ethernet connection. See how the free trial works.

Netherlands versus Romania: the time difference

The Netherlands is normally one hour behind Romania. If a programme begins at 20:00 in Romania, it is 19:00 in the Netherlands. Both countries observe seasonal clock changes, so this difference normally remains constant.

If you cannot watch live, some programmes may be available on catch-up. Vox Max offers an archive of up to seven days, depending on the channel and programme. Read how catch-up TV works.

What if streaming keeps buffering?

Before replacing your device, try these checks:

  • Restart the app and streaming device.
  • Test a wired Ethernet connection or stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi where practical.
  • Pause large downloads on other devices.
  • Test the connection from the TV device itself or near the television.
  • If one channel is affected, note its name and the time of the problem.

More suggestions appear in the streaming buffering troubleshooting guide.

Satellite dish or internet TV?

A satellite dish can require mounting space and installation permission. Internet TV can be easier to set up with a compatible device and a reliable connection, although picture quality depends on the network. If you rent a flat in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague or Utrecht, an internet-based option may be more practical when dish installation is not possible.

Do not assume every Romanian channel is included: check channel availability and features during your trial.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Vox Max directly on a Samsung or LG smart TV?

A native app is not currently available for these platforms. A compatible Android TV/Google TV device connected by HDMI is the practical alternative.

Do I need a satellite dish in the Netherlands?

No. Vox Max uses an internet connection and a compatible device rather than a satellite dish.

Can I try it before subscribing?

Yes. A free 24-hour trial is available. Check current plans and prices after testing.

Can I replay programmes I missed?

Some channels and programmes support catch-up for up to seven days. Availability varies.
