There are two ways to install Vox Max on an Android TV or Google TV device. The easiest is to search for the app in the Google Play Store on your TV. If it doesn't show up, you can install it with the Downloader by AFTV News app, using the installation code we email you when you register. Once it's installed, sign in with the username and password from your welcome email (or text message), and you're ready to watch Romanian TV channels.

Most people are done in a few minutes. This guide walks through both methods, signing in, updating, reinstalling and the problems people run into most often.

Before you start

Run through this quick checklist:

  • You have an Android TV or Google TV device, either a TV running Android TV or a streaming box plugged in over HDMI. Devices we recommend include the Nvidia Shield (including Shield TV Pro), Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi TV Box and Google TV Streamer 4K.
  • The device is online, ideally over an Ethernet cable for the most stable picture.
  • You're signed in to a Google account on the device (needed for Google Play).
  • You've created your Vox Max account and have the welcome email with your login details and installation code.
  • Your remote is handy. The Google TV app on your phone works as a keyboard and speeds up typing.

Method 1: Install from Google Play

This is the simplest route, so try it first.

  1. Turn on your Android TV device and open the Google Play Store from the home screen (on Google TV it's also under Apps).
  2. Select the search icon and type Vox Max.
  3. Pick the Vox Max app from the results.
  4. Select Install and wait for the download to finish.
  5. Select Open, or launch the app later from your apps row.

Method 2: Install with Downloader

Use this method if Vox Max doesn't appear in Google Play on your device. You'll need the installation code from your registration email.

  1. Open Google Play and install Downloader by AFTV News.
  2. Open Downloader and allow the file-access permissions it asks for.
  3. In the URL/code box, enter the installation code from your Vox Max email and select Go.
  4. Downloader fetches the installer. When the system prompt appears, select Install.
  5. If Android blocks the install, select Settings on the prompt and allow installing unknown apps for Downloader only. The exact path varies by device; it's usually Settings > Apps > Security & restrictions > Unknown sources.
  6. Go back to Downloader, finish the install and select Open.
  7. Optional: when Downloader offers to delete the installer file, accept to free up space.

Signing in

The first time you open the app, it asks for a username and password.

  1. Find the email (or text message) you received when you registered. The same details are shown in your account on vox-max.com.
  2. Enter the username and password exactly as written. They're case-sensitive.
  3. Confirm and wait for the channel list to load.

Can't find the email? Check your spam or promotions folders, then look in your account on the website.

Keeping the app updated

New versions usually bring fixes and improvements, so keep the app current.

  • Installed from Google Play: open Google Play > your profile > Manage apps & device and update Vox Max. You can also turn on auto-update.
  • Installed with Downloader: if you're told a new version is available, repeat Method 2. The new version normally installs over the old one.

Uninstalling and reinstalling safely

A clean reinstall fixes most odd behaviour, such as the app freezing or refusing to start.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps and select Vox Max.
  2. Try Clear cache first. If that doesn't help, choose Uninstall.
  3. Restart the device (unplug it for a few seconds).
  4. Reinstall using Method 1 or 2 and sign in again.

Your subscription belongs to your account, not to the app, so uninstalling doesn't affect it.
